The Question, and the Number You Need to Answer It
Whether Pipedrive is worth it for a small UK sales team turns on one figure that most write-ups get wrong: the plan you will actually need costs £39 per seat per month, not £14.
Pipedrive’s entry tier has no workflow automation and no revenue forecasting. Both start on Growth, the second of four plans. So the honest budget for a team that wants the CRM to chase follow-ups rather than just store them is £39 a seat — and for a four-person team that is £1,872 a year, not the “around £1,400” the arithmetic usually produces.
That is still defensible money for what you get. It is just worth budgeting the right number before you commit to a year.
What Pipedrive Does Well
Worth being specific, because the strengths are distinct and they decide the fit.
Visual pipeline management. Pipedrive was built around a drag-and-drop pipeline and the execution is genuinely excellent. Any team member can see where every deal sits at a glance. For two or more people this is the whole value proposition: when a rep is on holiday or leaves, nothing disappears into a private inbox.
Process consistency across people. Arguably where it earns its money for small teams. Required fields before a deal advances, automated reminders, activity sequences — so everyone works the same way rather than inventing their own. It also makes onboarding a new hire considerably faster.
Activity-based selling. Pipedrive nudges towards actions rather than outcomes: schedule the call, send the follow-up, log the meeting. That gives a manager something concrete to review beyond whether the number was hit.
Reporting a non-specialist can read. Conversion rates by stage, revenue forecasts, activity tracking. Not the deepest suite available, but ample for two to ten people and no analyst required. Note that forecasting arrives at Growth, not on the entry plan.
Is Pipedrive Worth It? The Real Cost Arithmetic
The Four Plans
| Plan | Annual (per seat/month) | Monthly | Automation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | £14 | £24 | None |
| Growth | £39 | £49 | Yes |
| Premium | £59 | £79 | Yes |
| Ultimate | £79 | £99 | Yes |
All exclude VAT. If you have read about Essential, Advanced, Professional, Power or Enterprise plans, those names are retired — and the £29 and £64 figures that circulate alongside them do not correspond to anything Pipedrive currently sells.
What It Costs at Realistic Seat Counts
Annual billing, base subscription only:
| Team size | Lite | Growth | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 seats | £336/yr | £936/yr | £1,416/yr |
| 4 seats | £672/yr | £1,872/yr | £2,832/yr |
| 8 seats | £1,344/yr | £3,744/yr | £5,664/yr |
Growth is the column to read, because it is the cheapest plan that automates anything. Our Pipedrive automation guide covers what you get for it: fifty active automations, multi-step nurturing sequences, and up to ten actions per workflow.
One limit worth knowing before you size a team around it. Those fifty automations are per company, not per seat — an eight-person team shares fifty between them, which is generous for most businesses and a real ceiling for an agency running separate workflows per client.
The Add-Ons, and the One You May Already Have
Pipedrive sells several features separately. Published starting prices:
| Add-on | From | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Web Visitors | £41/month | Identifies companies visiting your site |
| LeadBooster | £32.50/month | Chatbot, live chat, prospect finder, forms |
| Smart Docs | £32.50/month | Proposals and e-signatures |
| Campaigns | £13.33/month | Email marketing |
Campaigns is £13.33, not the £16 usually quoted, and it is worth repeating that it is not included in any base plan — so consolidating away from Mailchimp is a new line item, not a saving.
LeadBooster Comes With Premium
Here is the detail that changes the tier decision, and it is in Pipedrive’s knowledge base rather than on its pricing page: LeadBooster is included in Premium and higher plans. On Lite and Growth it is a paid add-on.
That makes the Growth-versus-Premium comparison a real calculation rather than a feature-list stare:
- One seat: Growth £39 + LeadBooster £32.50 = £71.50, against Premium at £59. Premium wins.
- Four seats: Growth £156 + £32.50 = £188.50, against Premium at £236. Growth wins.
The crossover sits at roughly two seats. If you are a sole trader or a pair who want LeadBooster, Premium is the cheaper route to it despite being the dearer plan.
The Question That Decides All of This
That arithmetic assumes add-ons are billed per company. Pipedrive does not publish whether they are per company or per seat, and the difference is large: LeadBooster across an eight-person team is £32.50 a month one way and £260 the other.
Pipedrive’s own billing documentation describes add-ons at subscription level, managed by whoever has account settings access, with no indication that cost scales with headcount — which points towards per company without confirming it. Ask before you buy, and get the answer in writing. It is the single most consequential unpublished number in Pipedrive’s pricing, and if add-ons turn out to be per seat, Premium beats Growth-plus-LeadBooster at every team size.
The Usage Cost Nobody Mentions
LeadBooster includes ten Prospector lead credits a month at no extra cost. Beyond that, credits are charged separately and appear as their own invoice line, at per-credit rates that fall with volume — Pipedrive’s published example runs from $0.85 down to $0.25 as you move up the tiers.
So if prospecting is why you want LeadBooster, the add-on price is a floor rather than the cost. Ten credits a month is not many.
Annual Versus Monthly
The discount is unusually uneven, and the entry tier is where it matters most:
- Lite: £14 against £24 — a 42% saving
- Growth: £39 against £49 — 20%
- Premium: £59 against £79 — 25%
- Ultimate: £79 against £99 — 20%
The usual “20 to 25% cheaper annually” is right for three tiers and badly understates Lite, where paying monthly costs £10 a seat a month extra on the cheapest plan — the one you are least likely to be uncertain about.
Is It Right for Your Team Size?
Two to Four People: Strong Fit, With a Caveat
Probably the sweet spot. Enough people that coordination and visibility genuinely matter, not enough to need anything enterprise-grade. At four seats on Growth that is £1,872 a year, or £156 a month.
The caveat: if your two people are experienced and self-directed, structured pipeline management can feel like administration rather than help. Pipedrive works best on a repeatable process. If your selling is highly consultative and varies deal by deal, the stages can end up fighting your reality instead of describing it.
Five to Ten People: Where It Justifies Itself
This is where the cost of inconsistency — missed follow-ups, deals dying quietly, a manager with no visibility — comfortably exceeds the subscription. At eight seats, Growth is £3,744 a year and Premium £5,664, and the step up buys 150 automations instead of 50 and ten if/else branches instead of three.
Check the automation ceiling against what you intend to build before assuming Growth is enough at this size.
Sole Traders and Micro-Businesses: Probably Overkill
If you are managing a handful of client relationships, you are paying for multi-user pipeline visibility without multiple users, and process consistency where the process is just you.
Capsule CRM is the better starting point: a free tier for two users and 250 contacts, and paid plans from £14 per user per month — not £18, which is a figure that belongs to Zoho and has drifted into Capsule write-ups repeatedly.
Two honest caveats on that recommendation, since they are usually omitted. Capsule’s free plan has no Xero integration — that starts at £14 — and no workflow automation, which is a Growth feature at £27. So “start free with Capsule for the UK accounting integration” is not a thing you can actually do. Detail in our Capsule pricing guide.
The Alternatives
Capsule CRM. UK-based, Manchester, cleanest interface here, and the broadest UK accounting coverage of anything in this comparison: Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent. From £14, with £27 for multiple pipelines and automation.
Zoho CRM. The value pick. Three users free forever, Standard at £12 per user, and multiple pipelines included at that price — something Pipedrive charges £39 for. Cluttered next to Pipedrive, and it rewards setup time.
HubSpot. Free for two users and 1,000 contacts — not the unlimited-user product still described almost everywhere, which predates HubSpot’s move to seat-based pricing. Paid Starter is per seat at roughly £18 list, often around £7 on promotion. Right if marketing is how you generate work; see our Capsule versus HubSpot Free comparison.

The Honest Assessment
For a UK team of two to ten with a defined or developing sales process, Pipedrive is probably the best balance of usability, features and cost available — at £39 a seat rather than £14. But “best” only counts if the team logs in. A cheaper tool people actually use beats a better one they avoid.
Practical UK Considerations
Data protection. Pipedrive is an EU-headquartered company and the UK recognises the EEA as adequate, so EU-hosted data is not a transfer problem for a UK business. Confirm your account’s data region if it matters to you, and note that the software does not discharge your own obligations: you still need a lawful basis for the contact data you hold, records of it, and an accurate privacy notice.
Accounting integration. Native Xero and QuickBooks. Useful for joining revenue data to the pipeline, though Pipedrive is not an accounting tool.
No VAT or invoicing features. Correct, and worth keeping clear in your tooling decisions. MTD for Income Tax has applied since 6 April 2026 above £50,000 of qualifying income, dropping to £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in April 2028 — all of which happens in your bookkeeping software, not here.
FAQ
What does Pipedrive actually cost for a small team?
On Growth, the cheapest plan with automation: £936 a year for two seats, £1,872 for four, £3,744 for eight, excluding VAT and add-ons.
What are the plans called?
Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate, at £14, £39, £59 and £79 per seat per month annually. Essential, Advanced, Professional, Power and Enterprise are retired names.
Can I try it before committing?
Yes — 14 days, no credit card required. Given annual billing, put two or three real deals in and have the team use it for the fortnight rather than clicking around.
Are there hidden costs?
Three. Add-ons are separate, and nobody publishes whether they are per seat or per company. LeadBooster is already included on Premium, so paying for it on Growth may be the wrong route. And Prospector credits beyond the included ten a month are billed per credit on their own invoice line.
Which plan do I need for automation?
Growth, £39. Lite has none at all, which is the most important fact about Pipedrive’s pricing.
Is monthly billing much worse?
On Lite, substantially — £24 against £14, a 42% premium. On the other three tiers it is 20% to 25%.
Does it work well on mobile?
Yes. The iOS and Android apps are among the better CRM mobile experiences, and you can log calls, move deal stages and pull up contact history on the move. A genuine asset for field-based selling.
Is Pipedrive Worth It? The Bottom Line
For two to ten people actively running a pipeline, yes — budgeted properly. That means £39 a seat on Growth, because Lite cannot automate anything, and £1,872 a year for a team of four rather than the £1,400 figure that comes from a plan Pipedrive no longer sells.
Before committing to a year, settle three things: whether fifty company-wide automations covers what you intend to build, whether add-ons are charged per seat or per company, and whether Premium at £59 is cheaper than Growth plus the add-on you wanted — which it is below about two seats, because LeadBooster is already in Premium.
And if you are a sole trader with fifteen client relationships, none of this applies yet. Start on Capsule’s free tier or Zoho’s three free seats, and move when the pipeline genuinely becomes hard to hold in your head. The tool should fit the business you have, not the one you are planning.
